Sessions

Selection sessions are on Sunday 19th and 26th November, 2pm to 3pm at Riverside Netball Courts.

Selections

Players will be chosen for two teams for 2024:

1. Players turning 11 in 2024 (born in 2013)

2. Players turning 10 in 2024 (born in 2014)

Selections will involve netball drills and some match play to allow selectors to view the players skills and abilities in a number of scenarios.

Selections can be attended by all age eligible players, regardless if they have attended any Rep Ready Sessions.

Cost

$15 for 2 weeks of selections.

What is involved in the 2024 Program for 11 & Under?

Essendon Thunder is extra netball to your club netball. All Essendon Thunder 11 & Under players must participate with an Essendon District Netball Association (EDNA) club in 2024 on Saturday afternoons at Riverside to be eligible for Essendon Thunder.

Seasons

There are two seasons in 2024 – Autumn (January to June) and Spring (July to December). Players are chosen for the entire 2024 year (both seasons). We start at the end of January as school is commencing, and usually finish in the first week of December. There are no matches or trainings during school holidays or long weekends.

Training

Training is for 1 hour on Sunday afternoons at Riverside Netball Courts. In 2023, training did not start earlier than 3pm, which allowed players to continue other sporting commitments, (i.e. football, gymnastics) they had on Sunday’s. Our entire club trains on Sunday afternoons (11’s through to Open age) at Riverside.

Matches

11 & Under teams play weekly on Saturday mornings at the State Netball Centre (Parkville Netball). Matches are played early (from approx. 9:30am), which enables all players to get to Riverside for their Saturday afternoon EDNA matches.

Tournaments

We take 11 & Under teams to a minimum of two Sunday tournaments during the Autumn season, and one tournament in the Spring season.
