17 & Under (players born in 2009 and 2010)
•⁠  ⁠1st trial: Sunday 14 September, 6pm to 8:30pm
•⁠  ⁠2nd trial: Sunday 12 October, 7pm to 8:30pm

•⁠  ⁠1st trial: Sunday 12 October, 3pm to 5:30pm
•⁠  ⁠2nd trial: Sunday 19 October, 3pm to 5:30pm
•⁠  ⁠3rd trial (if required): Sunday 26 October, 3pm to 5:30pm

2026 Program Information

All Essendon Thunder training is held on Sunday afternoons/evenings at Riverside Netball Courts, Ascot Vale.

30 minutes of Strength and Conditioning is included (except for 11&U) with a dedicated Strength and Conditioning Coach during training.

Indicative training times (subject to coach time availability for age group)

  • 11&U - 3pm to 4pm

  • 13&U - 4pm to 6pm

  • 15&U - 4pm to 6pm

  • 17&U/Open - 5:30pm to 7:30pm

Open Program (Players born 2008 and earlier)

  • Teams play in the Parkville Tuesday Open Premier competition at the State Netball Centre

    • Individual 17&U players may be selected to play in our Open Premier teams based on skill and potential development. These players will join the 17&U teams for tournaments.

17 & Under Program (Players born in 2009 and 2010)

  • Teams play in the Tuesday 17 & Under Parkville Premier competition at the State Netball Centre

    • Individual 17&U players may be selected to play in our Open Premier teams based on skill and potential development. These players will join the 17&U teams for tournaments.

  • Two Sunday tournaments between February and May;

  • A minimum of one team will be selected to attend Central West Association Championships (approx. May/June).

15 & Under (Players born in 2011 and 2012)

  • 2 teams will be selected for our 15&U 'Rep Teams'

  • Development teams may also be selected for players where Development in a Representative environment will be beneficial according to the Selectors.

  • Teams will play in the Thursday 15 & Under Parkville Competition or Tuesday 17 & Under Parkville Competition

    • Matches are played either at Riverside or the State Netball Centre, depending on the divisions we are accepted into by Parkville Netball.

  • The 2 Rep teams will attend two Sunday tournaments between February and May. Players from the development teams may be requested to attend.

  • The 2 Rep teams will attend Central West Association Championships (approx. May/June). Players from the development teams may be requested to attend.

13 & Under (Players born in 2013 and 2014)

  • 2 teams be selected for our 13&U 'Rep Teams'

  • Development teams may also be selected for players where Development in a Representative environment will be beneficial according to the Selectors.

  • Teams play on Thursday evenings at Riverside Netball Courts:

    • The 2 13 & Under Rep Teams with play in the Parkville 15 & Under competition - Times for matches rotate between 6:30pm, 7:20pm, 8:10pm and 9pm​​

    • The development teams will play in the Essendon District 13 & Under competition - Time for matches rotate between 7:20pm and 8:10pm.

  • Teams may also be selected to play on Saturday mornings at Parkville Netball as an extra game

  • All teams will attend two Sunday tournaments between February and May.

  • The 2 Rep teams will attend Central West Association Championships (approx. May/June). Players from the development teams may be requested to attend.

11 & Under (Players born in 2015 and 2016)

  • Two teams selected to play on Saturday mornings at the State Netball Centre in the Parkville Netball Competition.​

  • Both teams will attend two Sunday tournaments between February and May.
