2024 Trials
Trials for 2024 17&U, 15&U and 13&U teams will be held on Friday 13 October and Friday 20 October, 6pm - 9pm at the State Netball Centre, Parkville.

We may also conduct an extra selections/grading session on Friday 27 October, if required.

17 & Under (Players born in 2007 and 2008)

2024 Program Information
All Essendon Thunder training is held on Sunday afternoons/evenings at Riverside Netball Courts, Ascot Vale.
​
Indicative training times (subject to coach time availability for age group)

11&U - 3:30pm to 4:30pm

13&U/15&U - 4:30pm to 6pm

17&U/Open - 6pm to 7:30pm

17 & Under Program (Players born in 2007 and 2008)

Maximum of 2 teams

Teams will play in the Tuesday 17 & Under Parkville Premier competition at the State Netball Centre

Individual 17&U players may be selected to play in our Open Premier teams based on skill and potential development. These players will join the 17&U teams for tournaments.

Two Sunday tournaments between February and May;

The two teams will attend Central West Association Championships (approx. June).

15 & Under (Players born in 2009 and 2010)

2 teams will be selected for our 15&U 'Rep Teams' - i.e. guaranteed player selection for Central West Association Championships (where players can be Talent Identified for the Netball Victoria pathway).

Teams will play in the Thursday 15 & Under Parkville Competition

Matches are played either at Riverside or the State Netball Centre, depending on the division we are selected for.

Times for matches rotate between 6:30pm, 7:20pm, 8:10pm and 9pm​

Two Sunday tournaments between February and May, followed by the two teams attending Central West Association Championships (approx. June).
​
Thunder may elect to select a 'Development Team' of bottom age players (turning 14 in 2024), if there are enough players identified with potential to form a team. This team would participate in the Thursday night Parkville 15 & Under Competition and players from this team may be elevated to the tournament teams if required (i.e. in the event of Injury/illness to other players).

13 & Under (Players born in 2011 and 2012)

Up to four teams (maximum 40 players) will be selected for our 13 & Under Program in 2024.​

Note: Players will be graded on their individual abilities and skills, not placed in teams based purely on their age. I.e. If a bottom-age player (turning 12 in 2024) is more skilled and has more potential than a top-age player (turning 13 in 2024), the bottom age player will be ranked and placed higher than the top age player.

Teams will play on Thursday evenings at Riverside Netball Courts:

2 teams in the Parkville 15 & Under competition - Times for matches rotate between 6:30pm, 7:20pm, 8:10pm and 9pm​​

2 teams in the Essendon District 13 & Under competition - Time for matches rotate between 6:30pm and 7:20pm.

Teams may also be selected to play on Saturday mornings at Parkville Netball - This information will be discussed with selected players.

All teams will attend two Sunday tournaments between February and May.

Two teams will be selected (the 2 strongest teams) to attend Central West Association Championships (approx. June).
